Coalville

Formed in 1894, the Coalville Urban District came to assimilate outlying villages following government changes in 1936. The administrative of North West Leicestershire District is Coalville. From 1539 to 1926, it was in Diocese of Peterborough, Coalville has been in the Diocese of Leicester since 1926.

Having opened as the Coalville Grammar School, it celebrated its centenary as a school building in 2009. Known as the Coalville and District Choir of Male Voice, the Male Voice Choir of Coalville in 1944 was formed. Known as The Ravens play in the Northern Premier League is Coalville Town Football Club. Off Hall Lane, Whitwick, with a clubhouse founded in 1902 replacing one on Broom Leys Road that had stood, is the Rugby Football Club of Coalville.

From 1927 until 1990, on Belvoir Road the Greyhound Stadium of Coalville existed. Standing opposite the former Railway Hotel, the Constitutional Club of Coalville in 1897 was built. Due to the Hugglescote and Coalville settlements equidistance between, Belvoir Road's Halfway House derived its name. Known as The Liberal Club of Coalville, Marlborough Square's Marlborough Club was closed and by the next door Marlborough Day Nursery was purchased subsequently as a premises extension.

Known as the Coalville Adult School Drama Group, Bridge Road's Old Adult School Hall and Theatre is the Coalville Drama Group's home. With a population at the 2011 census of 34,575, Coalville is a North West Leicestershire town.
